RULES FOR MEMBERSHIP

Group Rules

RULES FOR MEMBERSHIP TO MTT

By continuing with your membership you agree to follow these rules and guidelines. If you don't agree with these rules you must not join the group. If you are already a member and you don't agree with these rules, you must delete your membership. Please note that these rules and guidelines are updated periodically. It is your own responsibility to ensure you are aware of any updates by reviewing this page at regular intervals.

DISCLAIMER

When you sign on as a member of the group you understand that whilst events may be organized on a group basis, the attendees must be self-sufficient and make preparations and take precautions that they would do if doing the activity by themselves. Whilst every possible assistance will be offered, MTT Trust, the Trustees, Event organizers/hosts and members cannot be held responsible for any accident, injuries or losses sustained leading up to, during, or after an event.

1. CONDUCT AND BEHAVIOR

We expect every member to come to MTT events because they want to do fun, active and adventurous events in a safe environment with a great group of people. People with other motives are not welcome in this group. MTT is certainly not a dating agency and any form of approaching other MTT members with this motive in mind will mean deletion from the group. Harassment, in whatever manner or however small, is completely unaccepted in the group. The leadership team takes every complaint very seriously and the offender will be deleted from the group without hesitation. Furthermore: any members who engage in any type of unlawful activity during an event will be deleted, banned from the group and the police will be notified.

If you would like to make a complaint about a member, please contact one of the organizers. We are happy to hear your complaint and we will always take it seriously!

The organizer retains the exclusive right to suspend, delete or ban any member from the group, or any particular event, for whatever reason they see fit. Examples of unaccepted behavior:
- Harm, harass or intimidate another member in any way
- Advertise merchandise, auctions, services or commercial websites
- Refuse to follow organizers and event hosts instructions or directions
- Violation (intentional or unintentional) of group rules

1.1 The MTT club may expel members who do not follow the above rules.

2. SAFETY

The nature of the activities that MTT involves itself in and the environments that we explore do inherently present risks and dangers. MTT prides itself on a good safety record and seriously wishes to maintain that. We always want members to return from activities safe and well. Therefore when you RSVP for an activity please keep in mind the difficulty level and your own fitness and experience. We reserve the right to refuse people on events for not having the required fitness level or equipment for that particular event. Our events are not suitable for children unless stated otherwise.

3. NO-SHOWS AND RSVP RULES

When you RSVP for an event you take up a place. If you don't show up you deny another member a place as events are often full. The same applies to changing your RSVP from "yes" to "no" just before an event. Even if events are not full, a host often has to make arrangements based on the number of people that RSVP-ed.

We have a very low tolerance for no-shows and we think they are just rude and antisocial behavior. Not only for the hosts, who put a lot of energy and time in organizing the events, but also for members who would have liked to come along but were denied that chance.

Therefore we have three simple rules:

1. Only RSVP if you plan to attend. As soon as this situation changes, change your RSVP

2. You cannot change your RSVP after PM the day before the event takes place; changing your RSVP after 7pm results in a no-show

3. Not showing up at an event results in a no-show

Three "no-call no-shows" means you're out

We want to prevent that long term members are haunted by a no-show in the past. Therefore, half a year after receiving the no-show we will cross it off your Adventurous MTT attendance record.

4. EVENT CANCELLATION POLICY

An event goes ahead unless the event organizer says otherwise. The event organiser will keep an eye on the weather and inform people who have RSVP-ed for an event accordingly. If an event is canceled due to the weather, the event organizer will inform all people who RSVP-ed (by placing a comment on the event page and/or mailing the members) at least two hours before the event start.

If you don't hear from the event organizer, the event is going ahead. Organizing outdoor events in MTT means that we sometimes have to make a judgement call depending on the difficulty of the walk and weather forecasts. We always err on the side of safety, but since this is "strong MTT club" we are not afraid to become a bit wet ;-)

5. PAID EVENTS

For some events payment in advance is required. If this is the case the event text will explain how to secure your spot. In short:

1) RSVP for the waiting list
2) Pay the required amount into the MTT organizer's bank account.
3) Email the organizer to confirm payment.

As soon as payment is confirmed (this can take a couple of days) you'll be moved from the waiting list to the attendee list (you'll receive an email to confirm). You’ll be refunded if there are no spots available anymore. The event text will mention the total number of available spots.

If an event is postponed the organizer sends all attendees an email in which we ask what they prefer: moving to the new date or getting a refund. If an event is canceled (or we cannot arrange a new date at that moment) all payments will be refunded (see refund policy).

6. REFUND POLICY

If the event is canceled or postponed, or you change your RSVP to "no" before the date that payments are no longer refundable, then you are entitled to a refund. Due to problems with tracking payments we cannot transfer your payment to future events. To obtain a refund please email bank account details to the event host. If you fail to do this, one reminder will be emailed to you, through the Meetup.com site.

This requires that you have supplied an email address for Meetup.com which you regularly check. If after 2 weeks you have not supplied bank account details to the event host, then the money will be unavailable for refund and will instead be deposited in the MTT Spare Funds account, for use which benefit the MTT membership.

We often have to estimate costs per person for events and we err on the safe side doing this. If our estimations turn out to be far over the fee we calculated for the event (the event was cheaper to organizes than expected), we’ll refund the difference if this is $20 or more per person. Differences below $20 per person will be deposited in the MTT Spare Funds account, for use which benefit the MTT membership. If our estimates turn out to be far below the fee calculated (the event was more expensive to organize than expected), we’ll not ask attendees to supplement the difference unless explicitly stated otherwise in the event text.

7. GIVING AND ACCEPTING LIFTS

It is common for members to offer and accept lifts to events. We have no rules around this but there are some simple precautions. First of all, it's entirely up to you whether you accept a lift. We do not keep any extra details on members apart from those they wish to share on their profiles. Please use your discretion when accepting lifts. If you don't feel safe then don't accept the lift. If you are offering a lift, please make sure your vehicle is roadworthy and has functioning seat belts for all occupants. You must be a sober driver!

Some people ask for a contribution to fuel costs (say a gold coin) and it is perfectly fair to do this, but you should always request the contribution BEFORE you pick the member up.

8. YOUR INFORMATION ON THE SITE

You must provide at least your legal first name, a clear recognizable photo of your face, and a brief profile description when you sign up. We do not use your information for anything other than contacting you about (events of) MTT.

Please note that MTT club cannot be responsible for supervising minors therefore you must be over 18 years of age to join MTT.

When contacting other members of the group we strongly recommend you use Meetups internal 'greeting' system. This gives you the opportunity to keep your personal email private at all times (please read the instructions carefully when sending or replying to greetings from members).

Please note that sometimes others might 'tag' you in Meetup photographs. Some people don't like being tagged but it is a simple procedure to log-on, find the photograph on the site, and then un-tag yourself.

9. ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP

What's the point of being a member if you don't attend anything? We feel that if you haven't logged onto the MT website for 12 months, you are not interested anymore. If you haven't logged onto the website for 12 months your membership will be deleted. You can of course rejoin if you wish.

  • Hello MTT members!

  • On Saturday, April 27th  we`ll be going to Bukhansan National Park to enjoy the beautiful scenery. From Bulgwang stn, we`ll take a city bus for 30minutes to the trailhead(Bamgol).
  • We will hike from Hidden rock to the highest peak, Baekundae(836m).
  • From there, we will hike down to Doseonsa Temple.
  • After an early dinner, we will take a city bus to Suyu Station on line 4.

  • Depending on the size and speed of the group, the hike will take about 5-6 hours and is moderately difficult with beautiful scenery. Some sections of the trail are very rocky, steep and will involve stairs and handrails. So you must be careful and know your ability.
  • I’d recommend wearing some really good shoes with ankle support since the trail mainly covers rock. The uneven rocks make it easy for someone to trip and receive a nasty sprain. It should be a fantastic day of hiking! So don`t miss this great opportunity!

  • Where to Meet:
Meet at 9:45AM at Bulgwang Stn on Line 3 or 6 (stop #322 or 612), exit 2(inside)

  • Preparations:

  • 1. Please make sure to wear extra warm clothing just in case there are strong winds or cold temperatures.

  • 2. Bring plenty of hot water, lunch and walking snacks (easily digestible and high calorie content)

  • 3. Money for Dinner (we will eat at a restaurant at the end of the hike, it usually costs around 10,000 won per person)

  • LIABILITY: While MTT is very considerate of the needs of its members, we cannot be held responsible for a hikers possessions, health, and/or safety.
    Hope to see ya there.

  • Cheers,
